Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Centre for Medical Ethics and Law (CMEL) to be appointed by the Department of Law (Ref.: 526030), to commence as soon as possible for 2 or 3 years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Law, Bioethics or any other relevant discipline. They are expected to show evidence of the potential to produce excellent research, and should have excellent written and spoken English and Chinese skills. Immediate availability,and past experience in conducting empirical (qualitative) research would be advantages.

The appointee must be able to work independently, professionally, and to a high standard under time constraints. He/ she is expected to devote his/her time mainly to research and knowledge exchange in the fields of medical ethics and medical law. He/ She will help conduct research in the area of medical ethics and law independently and collaboratively; help identify, plan and prepare funding applications for projects; commission and manage research projects and grants; edit, contribute to and publish academic and knowledge exchange publications; deliver presentations at conferences and other events; and disseminate knowledge to the legal, medical and other communities. The appointee should be prepared to travel to mainland China to conduct empirical research.

A significant portion of the work will entail a variety of research and related activities, including research dissemination and knowledge exchange such as planning and organizing conferences, seminars and other events; editing and writing; and assisting in maintaining CMEL’s online and social media presence. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
