Tang Thomas’ new partner to lead disputes, healthcare teams

Singaporean firm Tang Thomas has hired litigator Ammar Lulla as partner and co-head of the disputes and healthcare practices to strengthen its expertise in healthcare compliance, white-collar defence, and cross-border investigations.
Tang Thomas had been increasingly engaged in complex, high-stakes matters which often involved cross-border disputes, regulatory sensitivities and reputational risk, requiring tailored, strategic counsel, the firm’s co-managing partner Raj Joshua Thomas told Asia Business Law Journal.
Before joining Tang Thomas, Lulla served as an associate director at Cairnhill Law from December 2018 to July 2025. He has deep experience in disputes, including complex commercial litigation, civil disputes, arbitration, shareholder disputes, white-collar crime and investigations.
He has also been working as a mediator for six years with accreditations from various organisations including the Singapore International Mediation Institute, SAGE Mediation, the Law Society Mediation Scheme, the Consumer Association of Singapore and the Community Mediation Centre.
As co-head of the firm’s disputes practice, Lulla would lead complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and white-collar investigations, while mentoring junior lawyers and driving thought leadership in regulatory and statutory advisory work, said Thomas. In healthcare, Lulla would work alongside co-managing partner Cynthia Tang to expand the firm’s advisory services for healthcare providers, focusing on compliance, internal investigations and contentious regulatory matters, Thomas added.
His responsibilities would also include deepening client relationships, identifying emerging legal risks and developing tailored solutions that align with the operational realities of the firm’s clients, particularly in sectors facing heightened scrutiny and regulatory change, said Thomas.
Thomas has also observed that in the disputes area, clients are increasingly exposed to regulatory investigations, statutory breaches and cross-border litigation. He has also noted that there is an increased vigilance against corrupt practices.
In healthcare, the legal landscape was shifting rapidly due to an increase in litigious patients bringing negligence claims against medical practitioners that the firm represents, rising defamation risks from social media misuse, and heightened scrutiny around personal data protection, said Lulla.
With the addition of Lulla to the firm, Tang Thomas now has five partners among seven lawyers.
